His 1.22 points per game average was the 17th consecutive season that he averaged over one point per game. Sidney Crosby tied Gordie Howe for consecutive seasons averaging at least a point-per-game, and only trails Wayne Gretzky (19) for consecutive seasons averaging a point per game to begin their career.

Crosby also hit the 30-goal plateau for the 10th time in his illustrious career, joining Mario Lemieux (11) and Jaromir Jagr (10) as the only players in team history to score 30+ goals 10 or more times. His team-leading 84 points marked the 12th time in his career that he's led the Penguins in scoring, surpassing Mario Lemieux (11) for the most such instances in franchise history.
